World View Perspective: Shining the Light into deception

We can be 'con artists' of our own destiny when we engage in deception.  Looking deeper, we can see that deception comes from our own deep ego desires that we feel we must have satisfied, no matter what.  Almost a desperate search for that deep longing to be fulfilled.  If an obvious, above board way cannot happen or does not show itself, we can find nefarious ways to produce that result we are seeking. This behavior or pursuit does not make us 'bad guys' but rather momentary 'shadow dancers'.  We may have to enter the shadow side of our nature in order to find where that need can be met.  Carl Jung's work tells us we all have a shadow side.  Carl Jung encourages us to locate it, face it and ultimately integrate it into us in order to continue pursuing WHOLENESS. 

If we just pursue the LIGHT, we are also inviting the dark to also be present. The opposite force does and will come so we can integrate them both.  Think Yin and Yang.  Where there is LIGHT, there is also dark.  If dark dominates, the LIGHT will come.  If there is a scratching at the window at night, but we cannot see what it is, our mind could go a bit crazy with worry and wonder, until or unless, we turn on a light and look!  This is how deception works.  We don't want to see it or face it in ourselves because we don't want to believe we can or could choose that behavior.  If we are brave enough to go deeper into the deep ego desire that guided us to choose that, we will see why we chose that behavior, despite any other ideas about ourselves.  That is the point of healing, forgiveness, integration and growth.  

Always, we prefer to present ourselves in a positive LIGHT but truly, the darkness is there, too, often hiding from view. Just like anything standing in the shadows. It doesn't necessarily mean it is bad, negative, harmful, just that it is hiding.  Picture a child who needs money to pay off a bully at school.  He doesn't want his parents to know a bully is taunting him. So, the child chooses to wait until the parents close their door for bed to sneak into his mother's wallet, looking for cash!  The boy's deep desire is to not be caught, found out about and to not be hurt by the bully any more! The child then enters the energy of deception in order to not reveal what they are doing. When he gets to school, pays the bully to back off and his mother doesn't catch her loss of cash, the child might continue this behavior because it works. Yet, down deep, we know when we have chosen to be deceptive.  That energy doesn't feel good and we can actually have it affect our health over time. 

Using our LIGHT to act like a flashlight, we can have it shine into our hidden aspects so we can enhance our awareness about what is there!  This is not to cast any blame or shame on us but rather to reveal to ourselves what that deepest desire was that we felt we needed fulfilled, at any cost.  Forgiving ourselves deeply for exercising any form of deception frees up that stashed away energy, allowing it to be further integrated into our WHOLENESS.  It also helps us to understand that aspect of our nature and how it operates. We know more about who we are now.

Back to that scratching at the door. Our mind might have imagined it was a person intending harm, a giant bear about to devour us, a group of pests; neighbors about to pull a prank when, in fact, it is just a hungry squirrel.

Whatever it is that we might be fooling ourselves with, it is always best to bring our own LIGHT into it, with the understanding that whatever we need to ultimately experience WHOLENESS, (often the balance of opposites) will reveal itself, even if it starts with deceiving ourselves first.  Any darkness or deception that is willing to have the LIGHT shine on it, means it is willing to be dissolved back into the LIGHT of CONSCIOUSNESS after living for a time in Unconsciousness.  As Carl Jung tells us, 'Once what has been unconscious becomes conscious, it can never be made unconscious again.'  Let that INNER LIGHT shine, drawing any deception up and out and feel that greater illumination in it's place.  And LET THAT GREATER AWARENESS NOW SHINE!
